About Joanna
I love to create meaningful works of art that move the soul.
I work primarily with acrylic and oil paints, using collage and sculpture to add texture and meaning. I also work with in graphic design to create digital drawings.
My Story
I learned to draw at a young age and was always interested in art. I left these skills to the side early on in favor of studying math, languages and serving in Christian ministry.
I started painting in 2017, a few months after I moved to France with my family. I joined a local art club to improve my language skills. I showed up to the first meeting empty-handed. The instructor made me a basic list of supplies to start in acrylics and I began my first painting on a scrap canvas using borrowed or discarded materials.
Slowly, I learned how to use different mediums and tried different techniques. I started to incorporate scripture from the Bible and meditation into different artworks and throughout the painting process. Most of my paintings have a deeper story and symbolism behind them. I have had some talented instructors and mentors throughout my journey and have continued to participate in the local community art groups.
I have shown my work in galleries in Paris, France; Franklin, Tennessee; as well as in and around my home city of Caen in Normandy.
